Nazih zuhdi biography examples

Dr. Nazih Zuhdi died surrounded by family on Tuesday morning. The internationally-renowned heart surgeon performed Oklahoma’s first heart transplant in 1985 and started championing in 1998 for a law preventing Oklahoma organ donations from being shipped out-of-state, which the legislature passed.

He was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 1996.
Zuhdi and his wife, Annette, attended and sponsored many charitable events benefiting hospitals, the arts and history. They could hardly go out to dinner without someone coming up and grabbing his hand and saying “thank you for saving my life with that valve replacement (or some other cardiac procedure).”
For some of his more notable extravaganzas he brought Frank Sinatra, then Luciano Pavarotti twice to Oklahoma City.
Zuhdi’s invention of a “Total Intentional Hemodilution” machine brought open heart to the masses.
